Horses-—More than an average number were yarded at the Durham yards on Iriday, and, with the exception of anything of an extra good stamp, bidding fluctuated. Heavy draughts sold at from JC2C> 10s to £39 15s ; medium do , £IH 10s to £2H ; backs and light harness horses, £tj 10s to £2O ss; taxcart, £lO 10s; dogcart, Xl 5. On Wednesday we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr V. Schroder, Mangere. There was a very large attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised, The dairy cows sold up to £ll 5s ; buggy, £26 10s ; fowls, 3} to 4s ; pony, £7 10s. The furniture, which was in splendid order, sold at full values. On Thursday we held a sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr F. Niehobon, of Hunua. The atte.dance was good, everything selling at full rates. Cj«s sold at from £'i 5i to £6 15s; spring cart, £8 ; horses, J6lO.
Cattle.—Owing to Tuesday being Christmas Day we held our usual weekly sale at the Junction Yards on Monday. Stock of all descriptions were yarded in less than avetago numbers, the market being somewhat irregular. Dairy cows sold at from £3 12s 6d to £4lss ; empty do., £1 10s to £t'iii'>i; calves, 15s to XI ss. Beef sold at late rates, oxen selling to 24s per 1001b ; cow, 17s to 20h. Steers sold at from jE7 to j£9 17a fid; cows, £i 10s to J26. No extra good quality beef was yarded. Sheep were yarded in average quantities at Newmarket on Tueiday and met a ready sale, wethers selling at from 17s to j6l Is 6d; ewe?, 13s to 17s 9i. Lambs, in full supply, sold well at from 10s ttd to 17s !)1. Pigs: Porkers sold at from jEI la to £1 13s; weaners, 7s 6d to 12s.
