TAKING PEACE FOR GRANTED.
THE BRITISH ESTIMATES
A COBDEN CLUB SUGGESTION. LONDON. December 27. The Cobden Club reminded the Government that it was pledged to economy, ami suggested a reduction in the Estimates for \'M>7 owing to the favourable hopes for the continuance of peace.
Sir H. Campbell-Baunerman. in a sympathetic reply, said he was glad the Club was as alive as ever to the danger of allowing the wealth which free trade brought to our doors, being squandered in needless or provocative expenditure.
