THE POPE AND THE LAW. PARIS. December 17. The Pigaro gathers from clerical circles that the Pope is expected to accept the new law. Some disturbance occurred in provincial towns, bnt not of a serious nature. A QUIET SUNDAY. PAKIS, December 17. The first Sunday under the separation regime passed in Paris without incident. Large congregations attended the churches and a few manifestations occurred in the provinces in connection with the evacuation of seminaries and episcopal palaces. The resistance was almost formal, receiving little active popular support.
