STARVING VILLAGERS.
EATING BARK AND STRAW. ST. PETERSBURG, Dec. 10. Prince Lyoff, after travelling 800 miles in the Samara and Kazan districts, states that the villagers are feodless and fodderless, eating bark and straw, and selling their live stock for the price of skins. He estimates that 40 millions require urgent State assistance.
