The Waikato Times. THAMES VALLEY GAZETTE, AND KAWHIA ADVOCATE. Established Thirty-Four Years. THE OLDEST DAILY NEWSPAPER IN THE WAIKATO. THE LARGEST CIRCULATION OF ANT DAILY PAPER SOUTH OF AUCKLAND. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1906. WAIKATO'S ADVERTISEMENT AT CHRISTCHURCH.

Tin: descriptive article which we publish in this issue, will, we think, convince our readers that those who are responsible for the Waikato, Thames Valley ami Kil1<_;• Court at the International Exhibition deserve their thanks ami congratulations, ll was in the.se columns thai Waikato's participation in the great fail al Christehurcli was lirst publicly proposed, and we, who have walched the movement from its cradle, realise thai very ureal credil is due to the Executive lor the decree of success, which, in spite of difficulties and discouragements, has been achieved. Our contributor lias certainly not adluiuisiered indiscriminate llatlery. but it lie has found fault in some [larliculars, hi.-- intention lias evidently been to point nut possibilities of improvement. lie tells our readers that two of our great productive industries—Haxmilliug and sheep and cattle raising for freezing—are very inadequately represented. Doubtless the live trophies which display the growth and magnitude of the output of timber and butter, make the lack in these other directions more noticeable, but we hope that even yet these omissions will In; rectified. A pyramid of tlax, both in bales and hanks, of the best quality produced in the district, would form a striking, and we should think, a pleasing exhibit, especially if it were accompanied by the certilicates of the grader, and by some well displayed statistical information. As regards the frozen meat trade, could not the Farmers' Freezing Company contribute anything mole thau a couple of photographs'r We gather from our CJiristchurch contemporaries that other works, including Wanganui. have erected magnificent piles of tinned and potted meats', manures, neatsfoot oil. and sheepskin mats. Even if nothing of this sort can be done in the Waikato Court, ihe numerous and excellent photographs of live stock might surely lie grouped together and accompanied by a suitable inscription. The lack of a comprehensive scheme of arrangement and dccoiation ol the Court should also receive eon.Mdcra- ' tioil. We think it is a pity I hat I lie Waikato. Thames Valley and King , Country Executive could not see its • way to send ii- secretary or one of its members to Christehurch with power to spend money on the dccoiation ami arrangement "I' the Court. The Auckland representative-, who have had the Waikato Court in hand. have, we doubt not. done their work . conscientiously and efficiently ami j with every regard lor the iuterestsof this pari of the province. They de- ' serve and have our sincere thanks. Hut with a large l'ro\ iueial Court to ; attend to besides the Waikato di.s- ---'. plav. and wit h little or no fund.-, to spend upon the latter ami with the exhibits only dribbling slowly in, it I, was impossible for them, or anybody else to make the representation of ' this district what it ought to be. We would suggest that even now the , secretary or some other member of r the Waikato. Thames Valley ami I King Coantry Executive, should be sen; to Christehurch with power to I, act. It is our earnest desire that this district should take the fullest advantage of the unique opportunity I, afforded by the Exhibition of making known its resources, advantages and '' attractions.
