A CONFERENCE AT CHRIST
CHURCH. (Br Telegraph—Press Association.) I CHRISTCHURCH, Nov 21. M the annual meeting of the New Zealand Shipping Company yesterday the chairman expressed a hope that an amicable agreement would soon be arrived at regarding the friction between the direct liners and the Federal-Houlder Shire combination, in connection with the Homeward trade of the colony. This friction had caused a reduction of freights below "paying point. In connection with this a conference is being held in Christchurch to-day between the companies interested, with a view to arranging a aettlement.
