♦ The fact that on Saturday morning it was raining heavily at Waihi and other stations in the goldfielda districts mitigated greatly a«ainst a good attendance at the iir.-t g.>hi orgauised by the members of the district known in Druidical circles as number 10, which includes the Hamilton, Te Aroha, I'a-r a, Karangahake, Waikino and Waihi l< Nevertheless, a fair numlwr journeyed to Hamilton to take part and witness the sports held on the Cl-u (elands show ground, and a financial clearance is assured. A large committee had been at work for some time arranging details, hut owing to the weather, considerable mo iific itiou of these was necessiated. One of the most important spectacular effect?, nam-iy the procession, was abandoned, owing to an unfortunate misunderstanding with the Hamilton Municipal Band, and no musio was rendered on the grounds. The official! were: Judges, Messrs E. Hodgkm-on, and D. McKenna; starters, Messrs A. P. Wild and Nichol; secretary.Mr A. P. Wid ; I local secretary, Mr D. Mo Vicar; handicapped, Mr Michul for running events.aad Vlr J. E. Hammond for bioyole events. Mr Jackson, of Waikino, had a refreshment booth on the ground. In addition to the adult events, a very large number of children's races were got off, the little ones enjoying themselves immensely. It is proposed to make the outing an annual one, and no douH the nbxt fixture will show that the < fficials have profited by this year's expflrien e. The results of the adult events were as follows: IUUVds Maiden.-McConnell 1, Holtham 2. Six starters. Won fairly easily. lOOr.ia (open)—P. Irwin (7>ds) 1, McOonnell (9yde) 2. Thirteen starters Woo aft. t a close finish. Ooe Mile Hieyclo.—E. Mackie (110 yds) 1, K. fjridg.nan (15yds) 2. Six starturs. Won very ea?ily. Druid's Handicap, 150yds.—McGeehan (12yds) 1, Frearson (18yds) 8. Fourteen starters. The winner hal a yard or two to spare but Frearman had to exurt himself to heat Wallace (15yds; for second place. ■l4oYds (open).—F. Irwin (12yds) 1, Foy (loyd>)2. Tan starters, Only the placed men finished. "Old Buffers" Race, 75yds.—Box 1, B. llogan 2. Nine started, and a olose finish was seen. Five Mile Bicysle. -A. Gibbons (90yds) 1, R. Bridgman (150 yds) 2. Six started. Won somewhat easily. Friendly Societies Race, 220yds.—Ryan (13yds) 1, Frearman (30yds) 2. Twelve starters. Rather a good finish, W. Hogg, the seond man, being disqualified as not belonging to a society. Hop, Skip and Jump.—W. Hogg. 38ft 10m., 1, Maloney, 37ft ljin., 2. Nine competed.
