♦ District Judge Kettle paid a flying visit to Hamilton yesterday, returning to Auckland this morning. The S jcretary of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr W. Gray) is on a health trip to Nelson. Mr F. Watkinson, for soma years outdoor representative of Cook's Tourist Agency, and latterly in charge of the Like House Hotel in Rotorua, has just taken over the control of the well-known Geyser llote'. at Whakarewirewa. Tho Irish envoys, Messrs Devlin and O'Donovan, leave .Melbourne on the 28th inst. by tho Warri uoo for Bluff. They will be at Christchurch about Christmas time, and, j 'urneying North, will leave Auckland on January 11th for San Francisco. I Captain William Jones, of the ketoh I Lizette, the oldest Coasting shipmaster of I Auckland, has retired from the sea. Captain | Jones has probably one of ;he most unique i records amongst Auckland's shipmasters, as he has boon in charge ot the Lizette i continuously for 2(i years. Mr F. E Baume, M.H.R. for City East, I Auckland, who has been somewhat seriousi ly indißposel since his return from Wellington, as the result of overwork, is now i making fairly u&tisfaQtary progress toward j the recovery of his usual health. He will j be obliged, however, to rest indoors for some time yet, before resuming his daily routine.
