FRANCE AND THE CHURCH.
POPE AND STATE. PARIS, November 14. The Chamber of Deputies, by 416 to 163, expressed confidence in W. Briand's firmness to insure the complete enforcement of the law. M. Briand intimated that the Government would not resume relations with the Pope, even indirectly, but shows a conciliatory attitude. He warned the Right that unless they followed the Pope's advice to keep quiet, they would have to deal with the Government backed by all tiie forces of the law.
