MORRINSVILLE NEWS

Fbom Oub Own Coeresi-ondkmt A few local properties ohanged lands on November Ist, amongst them being Mr J. Taylor's Kiwitahi Esta'e, which was recently sold to Mr McFarlane, who took possession upon the above date. Mr Hunt, late manager for Mr Taylor, retains a similar position under the similar proprietorship. November Ist also shows a change in the ownership of the Hot Springs Hotel, Okoroire. Mr Martin, who has bo ably conducted this famous healta and pleasure resort for some months past—with satisfaction to his patrons and we trust pecuniary benefit to the old firm-has taken over the lease, and is now entire y on his own. W'e wish him every success. Okoroire is too well known to need any push from the wiiter, but an enjoyable game of golf, and then a good dinner, followed by one of those inimitable (•' and inevitable") "live minute's chat" in the smoke room with Mr Martin in tha char, is harJ to beat. The Coaching Department at Okoroire is now under the proprietorship of Mr J. Oallaglian, who will in the future, as in the past, conduct it witn tne same business ucumen that has made him such a favourite with all visitors. Mr E.G. French is now looited in Mr Cornish's old shop, with a clioice variety of fancy goods and toys, which attraot tLe eye of the passing schoolboy. Anything " from a needle to an anchor," speaks the range of business dealt with by Mr French. Nurses Cameron and Fitz-Gibbon will open a nursing home and private hospital, in the house at present occupied by Mr VV. Brooks on Djo-jmber Ist, Mr Brooks building another residence for himself on an adjoining section. Tne want of a house of this description has long been felt iu Morrinsville as many cases from the ueighbourl oj 1 Have had to travel to other towns owing to lucal lack of nursing accommodation. We feel sure the enteiprise will meet with the suoaess it deserves, especially as one of the nurses has been amongst us foi some months past notv, and is a universal favourite.

A very progressiva euchre party and social took place in the Phue lix Hall on Friday last, in aid of the school children's library. The event was organised and uiost ably managod by Mr and Mrs Scholium, whose efforts met with the cordial approval of all present. Mr F. Marshall made a splendid Diteotor of Ceremonies, and after about an hour and a-halt's play presented the prizes as follows:—First, Miss Manuel; second, Mrs Spargo. Geutlemen: First, Mr French ; second, Mr Guy, whilst Miss Andrews and Mr T. Heath distinguished themselves by haviug the lowest scores and consequently gaining the " booby " pr zes. During the interval a nke supper was provided by th« ladies, and son us were renderei by Mr Scholium and Mr Love. Dancing then followed, under the able management < f Mr Brayshaw, until an early hour, tte musio being supplied by Mr Cosgrove, assisted by several ladies and gentlemen present. The attendance was very go >d, p'easure and amusement being the order f the night, and we are all now looking forward to Mrs Scholium's next Euchre Party, with the one cry "Ob, let it be soon.,'
