Iheordinary meeting of tbe Piako Cout* Council was held at Te Aroha yeeterday There were present: Crs. 'l'. Gavin (chaiiroan), N. A. Larney, J. MoCaw, W. C. King VV, Main. T. MoUloin, J. Donaldson, J. B* Thomas and C. W. Keeley, Foremen's Eepokt— Foreman Johnson reported that new bridges were reqnirfl over Maclaren's drain and at Baine's pit a ' the VVaitoa riding, He rec mmended that sanding be done on the rrads which were badly cut up last winter, namely, from loplar bridge to Allen's at a cost of .£94 16s; Waitoa-Tirau road, £9O 6s : Stanley road £231; from Horn's corner to Mr Davis .£Bl. In the Jlatuuiatu riding there were works required at Scott's gully at-» cost of about £3O ; from Hanna's to Bennett s £54. On the Gordt n-Waharoa road the filling across the Maroa swamp required widening at a cost of about JBSO. Abolishing Road Districts.—Mr Joseph Poblen, in presenting the petition praying that the Matamata road district be merged into the County, said :he settlers were practically unanimously in f avour 0 f the proposal,—Tue Cnairman moved and Cr McCaw seconded, "That the road dietriofc be merged into the county."_ This was carried unanimously, the date of merganoe to be February Ist next. -Tne Councif oon-

Jr'Aiui'AßA Koad.—ilr E. H. Bailey, of the Assets Eeaination Board, Okoroire wrote in reference to taking over this road, and the Council decided th»t it oanaot accept the dedication unless the road is properly formed.

Okoboike-Tai>ai-a Eoad —ln reply to Mr E H. Bailey, it was decided that the Council cannot see its way to clear the outfall drain on the Oioroire-Tapjpa road but it the Assets Bourd cleaned this, th£ road drain would be cleaned. Waihou Outlet DiuiN.'-The Waitoa Ivjad Bo srd wrute agreeing to contribute half cost of cutting a drain through Mr Buctian s, at Waihou, and forwarded list of settlers willing to contribute also A Defiant BoA.tD.-The Thame. Noxious Weeds.—Toe Djpartment of Agriculture forwarded a gazette notioe including African boxthorn in the third schedule of the Noxious Weeds Aot. Valuation DiKmtENCK.-Mr T. Hoaking, Ukorire, complained of the excessive valuation of the improvements on his property at I'apapi.—it was found inadvisable to start interfering with the valuations of the Government Valuer, a,n<J Mr Hosking will be called upon'to pay tia rates as demanded.
