THE GRAIN MARKET. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Wheat.—The market is stagnant, except for fowl wheat which is in demand. Quotations: Milling, nominal, 3s 5d to 3s 6d; medium, 3a to 3s id; best fowl, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; broken, 2i 9d to 3s, sacks extra. Oats.—There has been demand from exporters, but their limits are barely np to late quotations, and as they have little difficulty in filling orders elsewhere at lower prioes, not much business is doing. Local stocks are not heavy. Seed lines, 2s 5d to 2s 9d; prime milling, 2s 2sd to 2s 3d ; good to best feed, 2s Id to 2s 2d; inferior! la lOd to 2s, sacks extra.

ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. At the Addington live stock market to-day, there were fair entries of stock in most departments, and a good attendance. Prime beef sold rather easier than the previous week. There was a fair sale for store sheep, and fat lambs brought good prioes. The fat sheep market was firmer, and pigs of all olasses sold at high rates! A fair amount of business was done in store cattle, 'lhe entry of store sheep was a light one, and was madu up of sunll lots, which sold well at rather better prices than last week. Four and six-tooth ewes in lamb sold up to 22s Id; 114 two-tooth wethers, 20s SJ, and [)() at 11U Id. There were 30 fat lambs penned, and they sold under good competition at 17s 6i to 20s, and one extra heavy to 255. The entry of fat sheep was a fairly large one, and included a good proportion of prime quality wethers, though the average was not equal to the previous week's yarding. Several export buyers were operating, and the market was firm at an advanc3 of fully Is per lwad. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers, 23s 6d to 26s j lighter, 20s lOd to 235; prime ewes, 21s to 24s 6d; medium, 18s to 20s ; aged, from 13s 3d; merino wethers, go>.d to prime, 17s to 20s; others, lis to 16s 9d. There were 174 head of f«t cattle entered, a considerable number being unfinished sorts. Bidding for prime quality was fairly keen, but prices on the whole were somewhat weaker. Some North Island c*ttle did not sell at auotion. A line of 16 steers from South Canterbury sold at £9 15s to £ll 15s, and other steers brought £6 to £ll 2s ; heifers, £b 12s 6d to £8 17s 6d ; extra, £lO 5s to £ll ss; cows, £1 10s to £8 2s 6d, equal to 23s to 26s for prime and 20s to 22s 6d for medium and inferior per 1001b. Veal calves made 7« 6d to 50s. Included in the yarding of store oattle were some useful lines of two and three-year-olds, and a fair amount of business was transacted at auction at the following rates: Fifteen to eighteen months, 33s to 40s; two-year steers, £3 18s; two-year heifers, £2 17s 6d; two and a-half-year steers, £4 2s 6i; three-year heifers, £3 15s; dry oows, 253 to £3. Dairy cows were a mode rate lot, and the best price was £7 10 J . There was a fair entry of pigs of all classes, baooners being firmar, while stores sold well up to the previous week's rates, and stores showed a further rise. Heavy ewooners made 55s to 635; lighter, 44a to 50s (eqaal to 4jd to 5d per lb); porkers, 35s to Mi\ lighter, 28s to 34s (equal to sdand sii per lb); large stores, 30s to 34»; medium, 183 to 28 a 6d ; and weaners, 12s to 17s 6d.
