FATAL FIRE AT TE AWAMUTU.

FOUR CHILDREN BURNED. RESCUERS WORK LIKE TROGANS. (By Telegraph.— Special to Waikato Times.) TE AWAMUTU. This Day. A shocking fatal fire took place here about 10 30 last night, whereby four children of Mr H. H. Hutt, the creamery manager, lost their lives, viz, Charles aged 13, Hector aged 6, Willie aged 3, and Ethel aged 5. There are nine children in the family, and all the boys lost their lives. The eldest girl gave the alarm of the dwelling being on fire. All the family had retired to bed, and at the time the alarm was given the fire had obtained a strong hold. Mr Hutt and his wife escaped with a little baby. Five of the children were saved, and every effort was made to rescue the four remaining, but owing to the flames having such a hold it was impossible to do anything. Constable Londer and a number of willing hande worked like Trogans, and at midnight the oharred remains of the four children were found. Nothing in the way of furniture was saved, and the inmates made their eacape in night attire. The house was very old and went down like matchwood.
