NEW SHEEP TRUCKS.
Mr J. T. Train, local secretary of the Farmers' Union, informs the Otago Daily I'imes that a number of representatives of Farmers' Unions win were attending the Colonial Council hold in Wellington last week, including Messrs J. G. Wilson (pre- • dencj, M'Queen and Middleton (Southland), R. Scott and G. H. Stewart (Otago), Leauley (Canterbury), Phillips, Lambie and Forsyth (North Island), inspected, on the invitation of Mr Ronayae (general manager of Railways), two sheep-trucks which had been fitted up with grating fl ,ore, as suggested by the Provincial Conference held in Uuuedin in June last. Those present expressed themselves well pleased with the alteration, and at the same time suggefcted some further improvements to the sides of the trucks—suggestions which Mrßonayoe undertook to cairy into tffect. The matter or two extra doors on sheep-trucks was also fully explained. Mr Wilson thanKed Mr R nayne for his courtesy in inviting farmers present to express their views, and' received in reply an assurance that the department was always willing to hear the opinions of practical farmers on such matters.
