MOKE NATIVES UNDER ARMS
THE WAR LOAN. MARITZBURG, May 9. Colonel Mackenzie has reached Nkandhla. Four hundred of Bambaata's men crossed the Buffalo River at Umsingi, where the chief lvula's people were already armed, the main body consisting of 000 being commanded by the headman Mseli. Some Batihed rebels have crossed the Tugela, returning to their own kraals, or seeking protection amongst he disaffected tribes. Kula and his brothers were arrested and brought to Helpmakaar. The Natal Assembly sanctioned the li Jf-million war loan. The Premier (Mr Smyth) said Natal's relations with the Imperial Government were most cordial. The latter showed an evident wish to treat Natal fairly and impartially.
