THE SHERIDAN SEASON

The all too brief season of the J. F. Sherdan Company in Hamilton was brought to a close last night when the well-known comedy, "Fun on the Bristol" was staged to an appreciative audience. Fun, it was from the opening scene to the fall of the curtain, for which the " Widow O'Brien " I in the person of Mr John F. Sheridm was mainly responsible. Alth(U»h the members of his company gave him every support, it was to Mr Sheridan that the audience looked for the more humorous situations of mirthful sallies and by-play, for wi.ich this original character gives such ample scope. Miss Heba Barlow made a very charming "Dora McAlister" and hid to respond to several encores for her rendering of "Bom-Bombay." Miss Maie Bradley as " Nora O'Bree-on " and Miss Florrie Fanning as "Bella Thompson" were also accorded a specially hearty reception. The double role of " Captain Cranbury" and "Richard Sparks" received good treatment at the hands of Mr Rupeet Julian, while Mr Thomas Curran as '" Tommy" proved an admirable big " little boy" The second act comprising the concert on board the s.s. Bristol gave the company full scope for the display of their various talents, It included a selected chorus and ballet in which the " Kangaroo " girls appeared in the "Coonville Band" iiud the Hiawatha march, for which an encorejwas demanded. Miss Minnie Grey'* pjwerful voice was also hear 1 to good advantage in a boo, while Messrs Sheridan, Noble and Curran gave several items that were loudly applauded. The piece was beautifully mounted, the dresses being particularly brilliant and rich, and no item was omitted wh'ch could add to the tuj;oughne3s which distinguished the whole production. We understand that Mr Sheridan was more than satisfied with his reception in Hamilton, and intends to come again next year.
