Mr James Dignan, of Auckland, was on a visit to Morrinsville, last week inspecting his various properties.
Mr N. A Larney, who has been on a fortnight's visit to Poverty Bay, returned to "Lauriston,''on Saturday.
MrF. W. Flanagan, chief draughtsman of the Lands and Survey Department, Wellington, has been appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Nelson district.
Mr James Stewart, who was appointed at the beginning of the year to the Government hemp grading staff, for instruction work, returned to Auckland on Friday, after having personally visited nearly all the flax mills in the southern part of the Auckland province.
Mr F. Forrest, tho well known nurseryman and landscape gardener, of Hukmui, has sold his property to two lady missionaries, who will work amongst the Maoiis. We understand that Mr Forrest contemplates locating himself in or near Hamilton.
We regret to state that the illness of Mr J. D. Morton, of the Waikato Times staff, will necessitate a more protracted suspension of his duties than he anticipated when he left for Auckland. By advertisement in this issue, he informs the students of his evening college that he is obliged to discontinue the classes until further notice. Mr Morton is suffering from typhoid fever.
The many friends of Mr Jaokways, manager of tho Eureka Butter Factory (writes our 'l'auwhare correspondent), will regret to learn that, having suffered bad health for some time, he is obliged to relinquish the duties which he has so long and etficienlly performed. The doctor has ordered him a change of work, so that he may get outdoor exercise.
