CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. The N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited reports:—At our Cambridge monthly Btock sale, on January 27th, cattle were brought forward in extra large numbers—Boo odd head. The yarding accommodation again proving insufficient, we were obliged to pen 300 head in Messrs McNicol and Co's yards. Prices ruled low throughout for all classes, and some owners reserved their stock. Other owners had evidently come prepared to accept the low prices prevailing at recent sales, and eventuilly the greater part of the stock offered were quitted at auction or before leaving the yards. Fat cattie were yarded in excess of requirements and were lower in value than previous ujonth'B sale 48 prime steers and cows were sold, the steers realising from £8 to jg9 28 6d; fat Cows and heifers, £4 5s to £6 10s. The fresh conditiored steers advertised were reserved, yearling steers sold at from £2 3s to £2 15s; yearlings mixed, £ll sto £2 7s; strong good calves, £1 H>. to £1 14s; smaller sorts, 15s to £1 it; 18-months and 2-year steers, £3 8s to £3 15s; quiet 15-months heifers, £2 15s; 18-iuonths and 2-year-old heifors, £3 to £3 12s 6d; fresh cows and heifers, £3 15s to £4, 10s ; store cows,£l 18s to £2 10s; only, a few dairy cows offered and sold at from £5 10s to £8; bulls, £3 10s to £5 ; pigs, 12s to 16s; riding cobs, £3 to £? ; 2 wheeled roadster, £2O, WOOL SALE. TIMARU, Monday. The third wool sale is proceeding this evening from eight o'clock. Four thousand bales are catalogued. It will be late before the sule is finished, but early catalogues seem to show bids for fine halfbreds a halfpenny and coarser wools a penny lower compared with last sale. LONDON CABLE. LONDON, January 29. Hemp. - The market is dull. January and March shipments, £3O. Wool.—There is keen competition for fine wools. To date 108,640 bales have have been offered and 101,459 sold. At the third wool sale of the season held here last night, 40C0 bales were submitted. Crossbreds were down a penny, and halfbreds a halfpenny compared with the last sale. BIRTH.
