WAITOA ROAD BOARD.

This Board met at Waihou last Saturday. Present: Messrs W. P. Chepmell (chairman), T. Bellamy, T. Hughes, W. A. Taylor, T. Hinton. Ranger.—lt was decided to invite applications for the position of ranger for the district. Weekly Halt-holiday.—lt was resolved that Thursday be again chosen as the day. Action Against Assets Board.—lt was resolved to instruct the Board's solicitor (Mr Swarbriok) to take action against the Assets Realisation Board, in the matter of compelling them to properly form and make roads through estates cut up and sold by them. Complaints,—S. McKibben wrote drawing attention to the water of the road getting into his paddock, and also to the fact that his crossing had not been replaced,which Foreman Parr took up without an order from the Board. The writer also desired to be informed when tenders are likely to be called for the position of Clerk to the Waitoa Road Board. Report.— Foreman Mannion, in his report, said that during the month he had been employed about Momnsville. He had repaired the school-house hill, and put water-tables in order on all roads; also oarted timber to Maungakawa and repaired a culvert. He would like the Board to keep the extra man on for another week to repair this road j some very rongh places on it. Damage to Bridges and Culverts.— Foreman Mannion reported that Mr Fred Strange's traction engine had damaged bridges and culverts on the MorrinsvilleMatamata road. He estimated that to repair damage done and make a few additional repaire would cost j620. The Board thought owners of such weighty machinery had no right to cross bridges without first strengthening them with planks.—lt was resolved that a sub-committee inspect the damage, and Mr Strange he asked .to pay for damage done by his engine. Noxious Weeds.—Foreman Parr, in his report stated that briars, bl&ckberries, and ragwort are beiDg allowed to grow by certain people opposite their holdings.— Those not complying with the Act are to be dealt with by Inspector Seddon, who is to be asked to visit the places mentioned and take the steps provided by law. Johnson's Creek.—Messrs and Lennard waited on the Board re Johnston's Creek going through their properties, and requesting the Board to deepen aud drain through Taylor's and Lennard's and widen drain through O'Donoghue's.—A committee was appointed to visit the place and report. Outlet.—The foreman was instructed to get the outlet from Mikkelsen's road attended to. Verandah Wanted.-Mr Hinton said J. Dignan, of Morrinsville, was desirous of erecting 14 x 16ft verandah opposite his shop in Canada-street—Left in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Hinton to attend to. Cousin's Road.—Mr Bellamy drew attention to the state of the road from the railway crossing to Mr Larney's gate. To be attended to. Kiwitahi-Kereone Road.—lt was resolved to call tenders for forming 5£ miles of this road, returnable in two weekß time. Drain Dispute.—Mr C. A. Cochrane was instructed to proceed with his draining at Waihehau.notwithstanding Mr Bell's notice to the contrary. It was pointed out that the drain was thought a natural water course, and therefore could not be interfered with.

Tenders.—No. 17, Sctotchiuan's Valley Road, carting 100 yds broken rock, widening and grading four chains road : J. Shaw's tender of 4s per yard and £2 for widening and grading was accepted. No. 18, continuation of Knight's TOiid, carting about 700 yds clay: E. Brokenshire 2s 6d per yd, W. Eastwood (accepted) Is 5d per yard. No. 19, widening and deepening about 40 chains of drain and formation on McCabe's road: E. Brokenshire £32; E. Voysey (accepted) £ls 19s.
