HAMILTON ROWING CLUB.

"AT HOME." The Hamilton Lake grounds presented an animated and pretty appearance jesterday afternoon, when a large number of the townspeople accepted the Rowing Club's invitation to an " At Home " in celebration of the opening of the season. The boatshed and its vicinity were gaily decorated with flags, and two tents were pitched on the level margin of the water, the steep slop' e above being dottol with visitors seated upon the dry herbage and under the bright green oak trees. The Hamilton Town Hand, rendered inspiriting music conducted by Bandmaster Savage. A number of ladies kindly provided an ample afternoon tea. An interesting programme of races was gone through, most of the events being well contested, although a rather strong breeze from the northwest was anything but helpful. Mr li. Bradley acted as starter and Mr M. G. Farrer (President of the Club) as judge. The Secretary (Mr C. lTorsnell) the captain, (Mr N. C. Matthew), Mr \V. H. Paul and other members of the Club were active both before and during the gathering in doing everything possible to ensure its succe.ss and the enjoyment of the visitors. The races were taken in heats resulting as follows: - Gents' Pair Oar.—Elliott and E lgecumb9 beat Gaze and Molloway; Swarbrick and Huwdea be'tt Pike and Fabling; Elliott and Edgecuinbe beat Swarbrick and j Howdeu.
