PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.

♦ A meeting of the above board was held in the Fukekura schoolroom on Monday last, there being present: Messrs R. Fisher (chairman), . T Gane, J. Keeley and R. Reynolds. The only business done was the passing of three accounts for payment, as follows:—W. F. Dixon, £4 13s, J. Bell, £3 Is 3d, S. 0. Stichbury, ,£l. The annual meetiug of ratepayers was held immediately afterwards, about 15 being present. The Chairman commented on the small attendance, as proving the confidence reposed in .the Board. Expenditure : Commission on rates .69 3s 2d, salaries £ls, election expenses £1 Is, advertising and printing £l7 fis 9d, audit £l, petty cish £2 17s, insurance employees ,£22 12s Bd, revising valuation roll £4 19s 6d, bank charges 10s, roads and bridges labour (county) £3lO 5s lid, material £7B 2s 101, labour (township) .£O3 4s (id, material Bs, ba'ance in hand .£lB7 15s lid, total £714 7s 3d. Assets: Cash in bank and in hand £IBS 15< lid, rates to collect £4 3s Bd, subsidy (balance) ,£25 18s sd. Liabilities : Commission on rates collected £lB 12s 6d, estimated amount due on contracts £ll2, advertising accounts £s.—The statement was adopted. An ordinary meeting of the new Board was held subsequently. Mr Rubt. Fisher was reelected chairman and Mr H. Fitzgerald secretary and treasurer. A ballot was taken to decide which two members should retire at the end of the first year, these being Messrs J. Anderson and K. Morrison. It was unanimously decided that a rate of one half-penny be struck for the ensuing year. Mr Jas. Keeley was authorised to procure a number deciduous trees, etc, for planting and improving the recreation ground. A cricket ground and bowling green are to be added and further improvements made to the cemetery reserve.
