HAMILTON MAYORAL ELECTION.

Considerable interest was evijpncad yesterday in • the election at Hamilton/ The candidates wpre Mr William Day, the late Mayor, and Mr William Jones. Ther friends of bith parties exerted themselves throughout the ri\y to secure vote*. The result was that Mr De.y polled 103 votes, and Mr Jones 73. The former was, thereforp, returned with a majority of 30.

Mr C. J. W. Barton acted as returning officer, and declared the result of the poll within twenty minutes of its closure.
