Tasman .is a dark brown horse with black points, very muscular and com- , pact big flat bone, with good feet; shows great strength all over ' combined with quality; splendid mover, and temper everything that can be desired. While on the turf he was a most consistent performer. He sported silk on 61 different occasions, winning no less than 31 events, ran 14 seconds 5 thirds, and 11 times unplaced. The value of the stakes won by him amounted to the large sum of £5500, and he left the turf as sound as the day he was foaled. A horse thai 'could go through the amount of work he did without breaking down should leav*us what we want-everyday horses. Terms : Half-bred mares, 4 guineas j three or more property of same owner, 3$ guineas; thoroughbreds, 6 guineas; payable on Ist January, 1895. Grazing Is per week. The performances of old ■ Yatjteriua (as game a bit of stuff as ever graced the turf) will be remembered by all lovers of horseflesh who were here early in the seventies; if they weren't, apply to French, trainer at Papakura, who will also give you Pin fire's character and tell you, as well of the Auckland Cup of 1891, he would have won that of 1892 only for an unfortunate accident; if he hadn't the winner would hare had to put up a record. Pinfire was one of those out-and-out stayers, which are unfortunately get" ting scarcer every day, that could make his own running and finish a really good two-mile race.
