RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting nf the Raghn County Council was held in the C>nmty office on Wednesday, 28th inst,, at 2.30 p.m. The following members were present: On. R, C. Mathias (chairman), Broolw, Whiteside, Vernon Smith, Bunkhart, McGuirk, Viiving and Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were road and confirmed. PKTiTios.-MrT. Hunt presented a petition from several ratepayers of the Onewhero Road District praying for separation therefrom, and to be added to the outlying district, Onewhero Riding.—Cr. Whiteside proposed, Cr. McGuirk seconded, and it was carried that the prayer of the petitioners be given effect to. Correspondence.-The outward correspondence was read. Letters were read from Mr E. T. Dufaur re harbour leases; from Mr L, O'Neill giving opinion re putting names on rate book j from the Chief Postmaster ro leaso of Post Office; from Mr Gresham re rate notices; from the Minister of Lands re a rant, from University re metal endowment; from Mr E. Dufaur re Somerset; from the Commissioner of Taxes ro valuation; from Mr Hunt re Karamu Bridge; from Mr McGuirk re dog registration; from Mr Morrow re dog registration; from the Waikato County Council re HuntlyPunt; from Mrs Roka Aubrey giving fencing notice; from Mr Annadale re the Whangape riding balance and reduction in charge at Churchill ferry to a somewhat similar scale to that in force at Huntlv.-Mr John Allen wrote the Council ottering to advance the necessary funds on account of his thirds to complete a road to his property,—Cr. Vining was authorised to call for tenders and arrange with Mr Allen.—Constable Ryan wrote offering to collect Jog registration fees for the Te Akau and' Karioi Ridings at the following rates: —Cattle and sheep, 9d; other dcgs, Is. Tenders.—Tenders for the following works were received:—Contract No. 25 Hunt's Bridge, Karamu): J. R, Smith and Son, £57 6s; Nickeson and Vincent, £B4 hGd (piles); '. Nickeson and Vincent, £7l 2s Gd ;D. F. Scott, £39105. The tender of D. F. Scott was accepted.— Contract No. 2G (metalling on mountain): Johnson Bros., per chain, £4 4s; Donaldson, £4los; Sunders. £410.}; Carthey and Nickeson, £4 3s Gd; Norman King, £5 14s. The tender of Johnson Bros, was accepted conditionally. Contract No. 27: Johnson, culvert £3, ditch per chain 14s; Kamareira, culvert £2los, ditch per chain ss; J. King, ditch per chain 3s Gd ; J. La Trobe, culvert £lss, ditch per chain 10s. The tender of J. La Trobe was. accepted f»r culvert, and J. King tor drain. Contract No. 28 (metalling) : Loane and Vercoe, metal per chain £7l2s, shingle : £5 14s; Johnson Bros., metal per chain £7; Sundew, £7; N. King, £7lss; Collins, £8 lis. The tender of Loane and Vercoe for i hingle was accepted conditionally. Valuation.-The tender of. W. I. Conradi £55, was accepted. SPECIAL MEETING, The Council passed the bye laws relating to the charges, etc, at the Huntly Ferry. MrLutener was'appidnted to take charge of this ferry when Mr Absolom's time is up, at 30s per week, tenders to: be called for taking charge of the Huntly Punt, returnable at the special meeting.
