The Daily Telegraph announces that the Chancellor of the Exchequer intends to reduce the rate of interest on deposits in the Post-office Savings Bank to 2 per cent. Lord Salisbury, in a letter, refers to bimetallism as a subject of supreme importance to the Empire. The London Bank of Australia hasannounced that it will repay the second instalment of deposits in July 1895 instead of in 1899. ' _ The Daily News considers the English cricketers' victory at Sydney was well earned. Great Britain recognises the Hawaiian Republic. Six millions will be spent on the American navy in 1895.
