AQUATICS AT NGARUAWAHIA.
The Ngaruawahia Rowing Club opened the season last Friday with a regatta, which was a success from all points of view. The weather was splendid, suiting both the rowers and spectators, the latter turning up in great numbers. The iollowing is a IM of the events :
Four : oared Gig Rack. Distance, one mile.-No. 1 ciew-Mesn-s F. W. Hunt (stroke). A. A. Da vies, J. Lvnch, W. Powell and McßiVry (cox)—'fit N0.9 crew—Messrs Aubrey, G. Roper, W. Starr, T. Saullirey'and A Kay (cox). Thk was a very exciting race, and won •only by hhlf-a-lcmtk—No. 4 crew— Messrs R, Rs*hlwrne (stroke). H. Booth, W. Collins,' W. Patterson and C. My lea '(cox)—beat No. 3 crew—A. Douglas, T. Simpson, C. Stair, Richardson nod E Bailey icox). Won by two lengths.—ln the final hfat No. 4'crew heat No. Iby ■three lengths, after a good race. Pair-oakkd Rack. Three quarters of a mile.—No I crew-Messrs A. Douglas and G. Roper—beit No. 2—Messrs T. Simpson and T. Lynch. Won easily.No. 3 crew—Messrs P. Ankey and W. •Oollios—heat No. 4-Mewrs E. Rath•bome and W. Starr. Won easily.—ln •the final heat No. 2 crew beat No. 1 -.after a close race. Sack RACK.-Totuku. Hop. Step and Jump - Henare. Tub Rare.—K. Rathhorn«\ Owing to the lateness of the hour, the Race was postponed, and will ■be decided on Saturday next.
