KIHIKIHI CREAMERY.

DISSATISFACTION WITH THE TESTS, Ix consequence of the very great dissatisfaction of the milk suppliers with the tests as sent up by Messrs Reynolds and Co., a meeting was called at the creamery at which nearly every supplier was present. Mr Hutchinson was voted to the chair. The unanimous opinion of the meeting was, that justice was not being done, and some of the speakers gave vent to their feelings in very forcible language. In the first place it was pointed out that the mode of taking the samples at the creamery was anything but satisfactory—the Manager not being blamed by anyone, as he is supposed to be acting according to instructions. In the case of the evening's milk when the cream has risen duriug the night, it was stated, if allowed to stand for even a minute or two in the receiving can, and even it mixed with morning's milk, that innumerable small particles of cream immediately came to the top, and that very little of that cream would get into the pannikin from which the sample is taken when the manager knows his business, and that if any did get in, it would be, impossible for any of it to be drawn up by the pipette. The conclusion arrived at was that, Messrs Reynolds and Co. should be asked if they would supply the manager with a glass something like a graduated ghss, showing the exact quantity required for a sample, and into which the sample could be poured instead of being drawn up by the pipette, and also that they would give instructions to the manager when taking milk from any supplier who has more than one receiving can full that the different samples taken out should be thoroughly mixed, backwards and forwards, in two vessels before a final sample is taken. At present only, one pannikin is used, which may in some cases stand some time before the sample is taken out by the pipette, and which is then taken from, the bottom of the pannikin, which of course contains the poorest milk. Considerable dissatisfaction was also expressed at the delay in sending returns of tests. The chairman was requested to forward to Messrs Reynolds and Co. a resolution proposed by Mr Dinneen, seconded by Mr Meredith and carried uuanimously, embodying what I have already written concerning supplying the manager with a graduated glass, and also doing away with the pipkte, and the thorough mixing of the milk for sample. Several of those present expressed their opinion that it would be a good thing for milk suppliers generally if a union wera formed in Waikato, so that such questions as the testing of the milk could be discussed by representatives from the various localities, and united action taken either in,the direction of appointing an independent analyst, or in some other way, . A resolution was proposed by Mr Bridgmati, and seconded by Mr Henderson p.nd carried unanimously; that steps be taken to form a Union of milfe Suppliers throughput.Wailuto. This concluded the business.
