Thr match between Taupiri and the SouthEnd was played Nt Taupiri 'on Friday, the sthi the new pitch and ground of the latter heme used on the occasion for the first time.. The wicket ; ,waß.iii perfpct condition (a real batsman's wicket), arid it is .notj too niuch to nay that an true and faultless a crease could not fee found in 1 the Auckland Domain. Next year, when the grass will have attained a good erowth .in the outfielding, Taupiri will have one of the finest cricket grounds outside,of Auckland, It is evident that the spirit of true cricket exists there. The home team proved altogether too good for the South-Enders, who were beaten by an innings and 28 runs, Messrs E. B. C>oc, R. >Hil| and M.. Gleeson scored well for the winners, while Messrs A. Dorricot, and J. Havelock were the only ones to get into double figures for •the South-End Club. W. Bailey was the most successful bowler for Suuth*Lnd, and E. B.
