John Edwards, of Paeroa, was thrown from his horse yesteiday, and had his leg broken,
WELLINGTON, Last Night. At the Appeal 'Court the case Eccles v. Hall is being argued. The case has been removed for argument from Chmichurch, and involves a question arising out of the bankruptcy of Harper and Co. The plaintiff is the executor of Major Eccles, for* merly Aide-de-camp to Sir Wm. Jervois, and the defendants 1 are Sir John Hall and Mr Westner, trustees of the will of the late Sir Cacroft Wilson and his widow. The plaintiff claims to recover £6OO from the defendants for consideration of a transfer of mortgage. The case is still proceeding. The Union Bank of Australia, Bank of New South Wata and Bank of Australasia have reduced their deposit rates to3| per cent, for twelve mouths' deposits and 2 per cent, for six months' deposits.
