CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Secretary of the Canterbury Cricket Association, has received a letter from Major Wardell, at Melbourne, which seems to imply that Stoddart's eleven would visit New Zealand in the event of the dispute between Victoria and New South Wales, being settled. As that dispute is now being argued, there* appears to be some doubt whether the Englishmen will visit this colony. In Wellington about £IOO has been subscribed by the citizens towards the guarantee towards the English team, and the Cricket Association is to be asked to agree to pay the balance of £l5O, if the takings at the gate are insufficient.
