RAGLAN.
•Rifle Match.•- On Saturday afternoon, October 20th, a friendly match was fired t the Raglan rifle range, between the ; Raglan contingent of the To Awamutu Jrlounted Infantry and the Haglari civilians. The day beiug fine and with but Jitfcle wind, the match was conducted under favourable ; circumstances. , The following were, the sidesßaglan-Te Awamutu Mounted Infantry: Sergeant Johnstone, Sergt. Wallis, Privates L. ' Johnstone, E. Pretty, W. Wallis, F. Buiford, W. Millar. I Raglan Civilians: A. R. Langley, Const. Ryan", H. Mathew, J, Graham, A. Wallis, A. Richards, J. Walton. Scores :-Raglau-Te Awamutu Mounted Infantry: 200 yds, 125; 300 yds, .82; 400 yds, 55; total, 262. Civilians: 200yds,-86; 300 yds, 63; 400 yds, 32; -total, 181, the volunteers proving the victors by 81 points. After the match both teams with their friends assembled iit Mr Smith's Harbour View Hotel and partook of an excellent dinner provided ■by Host Smith, who on this occasion excelled himself, the table being well supdied with all the delicacies of the season. .' Cricket Club.-A meeting of the •members of this club was held in Raglan .yecently. The report of the past year's proceedings and the statement of accounts were presented to the meeting and con#rmed. The secretary and treasurer of the club were re-appointed for another year. The consideration of matches to be •jheld during the coming season and other jnatters were deferred for a fortnight, /when another meeting will be held for ihat purpose. ' SAW Mill.-Mr A, R. Langley, our enterprising towfisihan,' is getting down iby the next steamer a saw mill plant. 'There is in this district a large quantity; i<jf mangiao and other valuable timber available for sawing purposes! I hear •that Mr Sutton is also erecting an enginej [ sbaffcutting, etc. All these efforts.should; jead to our improvement. . Dry Weather,-Although in last report it; was stated we. had'had a night's .pain, after all.it does not appear to have '.penetrated very far into the parched' ground and we; have now continued .dry' weather.
