The writer of "Wise and Otherwise," in the Melbourne Age, is responsible for the following:—A phase of character to the Australian girl that must be regarded as altogether exceptional is illustrated in a true story.. .They ; were married and the bridegroom gave her as a wedding present,, an insurance policy on his life for £I,OOO. He died suddenly, a little over a year after the wedding and she communicated the sad news to her mother in a telegram:-" Jim died of fever last night. Loss fully covered by insurance."
