HOME RULE.
(BY KI.KCTIIIO TKI.KOHAPH—COPYHUJIIT.) London', May JO. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Thomas W. Russell, M.l\ foi Tyrone, moved an aiiiendment to abolish the provision made in the Home Rule Bill for a second chamber, and declared that it would only result in useless discussion.
Mr Gladstone, in reply, said the Nationalists approved of the clause, and that tho experience of the colonics justified a second chamber. May 11.
Mr Russell's amendment to tho Home ltule Bill, abolishing the second chamber in the Irish Parliament, was defeated by ut majority of oil. Mr Gladstone declared an Upper Chamber had added to the dignity and stability of tho colonies, which did not desire its abolition.
