The Wkather.—The weather for the past week or two has been pretty severe, for the time nf year, rain falling plentifully with occasional hail-stoms, ho that travelling up country is difficult owing to the flooded state of the creels. Crops nevertheless, are looking well, and but for the sparrows, fair results might bo obtained, Thk " Aiuiy.'' —The Solvation Army appear to have caught on here, as I inn told jui' Public Hall was pivtty well filled oil Friday last, to hoar the musical detichment of the corps that visit-d here, but doubtless curiosity ha 1 a good deal to do with so many attending. At To (lore school, where Miss Nixon is the teacher, 100 per cent, passed the stmdards, not one having failed that was presented.— At .Mr Wolsley's school, l'aterangi, the satnegocd result was obtained, every scholar passing successfully, (ireat credit is due to b'sth teachers at tlie advance made bv their pupils, a< both Miss Nixon and Mr Worsley are new to the district.
