September IG.— Stiro Sheep : A very early spring having- succeeded one ot the mildest winter-* Canterbury has experienced, brings with it a keen demand for stores ot" all classes. About 3700 were panned yesterday. Layers were in strong force, and all lots met with healthy competition, with the following 1 results :—Cross-bred ewes in lamb and with Iftmbs at foot 25s to 21s ;j 1, cross-bred hoggets, 14? to i;»s 7d, two and four-tooth crosshreds las 94 to IGs 9d, me.tino wethers 7a' to Ss o Pat Sheep : The supply yarded \v;n a comparatively light one of a very mixed description. Lines of really prime sheep, both ctoss-bredsand n.eiino wethers, few and fir between. Cr. .ss-bred ewes were also scarce, so that the bulk of the entry made up of medium to inferior merino wethers, which sold very irregularly, and on the whole cheap, and mixed cfoss-breds. which required finishing ; for these competition was rather slack.
