Police Inspector. —Inspector Rmerscn arrived in Raglan 011 Saturday morning on an oflieial visit in connection with tho duties of his department, and returned to Hamilton on the following morning. He reported the mountain road in a very bad state, some of the placcs being; extremely dangerous.
"Visitors.—That well-known Jehu Mr L. Sutton brought over in one of his coaches from Hamilton 011 Friday last the following gentlemen, proceeding to Raglan 011 business of various kinds Inspector (tmerson and Aiessrs fvnox and Moses. He found the Mountain Road in. a very bad stat». Besides several dangerous lioles in oho road, one of the bridges, not, far from Mr Sutton's half-way bouse* and u[ on which the coach and i'ts occnpants nearly came to grief, is in a most daiurerous state. After staying at the half-way house all Friday night, he reached Raglan early next, morning. Ifc is now about time our County Council took some steps to have this, our main road, put into at least a safe condition, which, at the present time, it certainly ia not. A very strongly-worded telegram was sent to the Minister for Public Works upon the condition of this road, and surely our County Council will at once take steps to have something done in the matter before a serious accident occur?, and which will bring along with it heavy penalties. This may perhaps be considered strong language by some of that august body, but it is mild in form and weak iu expression to the indignation that has been given vent to in Raglan during the last few davs.
