September 9.—Store Sheep : An entry of about 2500 was yarded, included ono line of 1200 forward-condi-tioned four-tooth half-bred wethors, another lot of the same description, and small lots of ewes and cross-bred hogßels. The prospect of an early and abundant spring has created a lively demand for stores, and a ptr>ug muster ot buyers put in an appearance yesterday. Competition was brisk, p.nd all lots changed hands at full rates lately rnl'ng. Forward-conditioned wethers brought 10s to 17s 2d, cross-brpd hoggets 12s to 14s cross-bred ewes and lambs and in lamb 12s Od to 17s Od. — Fat Sheep : About 4500 represented the supply in this clas3, about halt of which were merino wethers, varying in quality from extra prime to sheep which, in a full market, would not have been allowed to stand in the fat pen 3. Exporters held off,and sales were only made with difficulty at anythijig like last week's prices, competition being so slack that many lots were passed, and afterwards quitted privately. Really prime quality is, however, comparatively scarce, and always commands spirited bidding. Piest bullocks brought £7 11 £9 7s Od, cows and heifers £5 to £7 10s.—Store Cattle : Comparatively small entry, with lively demand, prices baing on a par with last week's.—Dairy Cattle: An average yarding in this class, the bulk being poor sorts. A fair demand exists for yound sound animals, but at low values. We sold for clients, springers and cows in profit at £4 15s to £7 10s.
