The Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislative Council have determined to insert a clause in the Electoral .Bill to enable women to vote by means of electoral tickets, us are souinen, shearers, and Cotnmeivi tl travellers. The object of ihis is, of course, to relieve them from the necessity of attending, the polls and being subjected to the incidental annoyince. There can be little doubt but that if this clause is agreed to that the voting of females will be much more general than is likely to be the case if they are compelled to undergo the ordeal of struggling through an excited crowd, in order to reach, and return from the polling places. It may be argued that if women are to be ondowed with equal rights to men that they should bo prepared to undergo the same inconveniences in this exercise. This is not a fair argument ; it is not equality of inconvenience to compei a women to work way through a surging crowd, composed mainly of the opposite sex, in order to record her vote. If it is right that female franchise should be granted, it is highly desirable that us many as possible should excivise it. We trust that the Government will consent to the insertion of the clause, providing proper provisions are made to prevent abuse.
