KIHIKIHI.

* ~ The Hounds.— A very enjoyable day was spent on Wednesday with the hounds in and around Kihikihi. Some very giod jumping was met with, and there ware no spills of any consequence. It was very noticeable to those waiting at the finish to see one hound following up the scent and arriving at the finish some little time before the others were in sight, no doubt that being the n&w hound which has replaced the one that was poisoned. The run was purposely made short so as to enable Mr Webster to get back to Hamilton with the hounds before dirk. The dance in the evening was a delightful success, the only disappointment being the absence of the Master of the Hounds, whom a great many would like to have seen there. Miss Archer rendered the music, assisted by other ladies, in splendid style. The members of the Polo Committee spared no trouble in endeavouring to make the affair a success. The room was tastefully decorated with evergreens and variegated flax. At the far end the polo sticks and balls were arranged in a semi-circle on the wall, which looked very nice and appropriate. As regards the belle of the evening, it is very hard to give an opinion, so many of the ladies looking so nice, it would be unfair for me to give, the preference. There were quite 00 couples in the room, which was enough for the size of the hall. Dancing was kept up until four in the morning, when nil dispersed, having spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and I have no doubt all those that ivers there will join me in giving our hearty thanks to the members of the committee, and we hope to have the pleasure of attending more such gatherings in the sweet by-and-bye.

The Creamery.—The creamery commenced operations last Saturday, and from what I can hear is working very satisfactorily. In my last report I stated that all tiiose only commencing with the starting of the factory would receive a bonus pergadon of milk for fche season. I have, since been told that the company had made that stipulation, but not wanting to bo hard with their suppliers had made a concession, allowing those that should join in later (owing to their cows not being ready) to still reap the benefit of the bonus.
