Ykstuhday.—(lJefore Capt. .Tackson,R.M.l Cooi'Klt v. Mt'l is. —Claim, £14 for S" ids supplied. Defendant confessed judgment, and the Court made an order that he pay at the rate of 10s per week, but could make no order for costs to plaintiff, who had come from Wailii to Hamilton, as the most recent judgment of the Snpremß Court precluded him from doing so. His Worship said that he thought it was unfair to the plaintiff that he could not get his expenses, and that he had represented the matter to the Government. H« thought fresh legislation was required on the matter. Cj.kmksts v. Uihjhuagh.—ln this case the defendant admitted that he had agreed to the amount of the award made by the arbitrators, Messrs Metcalfe and John McNicol, but that he had had no details of the manner in which the award was made np, and these ho would like to see.—His Worship said that having taken up the award, defendant was clearly liable, and g:iv3 judgment fur the amount (£2l), which defendant agreed to pay in one month. Hkast.ii' v. H. Ur Vrrk Hunt.—Assault : The plaintiff deposed that on the evening of the 14th August he had been violently assaulted by defendant, and had suffered severely in onsequenco. A'oluminous evidence was taken, and it was shown that the cause of the quarrel was one which has: at all times and in all ages been a constant source of litigation, i.e., "womanlovely woman." The assault was proved, and the defendant was ordered to pay a Hue of £2 and costs, 10s (>d.
