HUNTLY.

Inquest.—An inquest on the body nf Mr Otto Chipman, the Mormon missionary who riled mi Wednesday la<t at ttiß Maori village opposite Huutly, was held at the Himtly Hotel on Friday morning at 9.30 a.m., before Mr J. H. Graham, actinccironer, and a jury of six, of which Mr F. Still was chosen foreman. It appears from the statement of Mr Stanford and two other Mormon teacher.-?, who attended deceased, that about the 20th August, in crossing the river in a canoe, he got very wet, winch resulted in a cold, and on the 27th he became very ill and delirious. Mr Stanford came across on Tuesday last to obtain medical aid, but found that Dr. Kerr, who had been here, had left for Hamilton. The evidence of Dr. Karr, who had examined the body, went to show that deceased had succumbed to an attack of inflammation of the lungs, and a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony was returned. Mr Chipman was a young man, being only 22 years of age. He was married, his wife beinft in America, and it is the intention of his friends to transport his body thither by the out-going mail steamer. Accident. —A miner named A. Tee, employed at the Taupiri Extended Company's mine, met with a very painful accident some time ago by being struck right on the eye with a piece of coal. This is the second such regretivble occurrence that has taken place in themiiiß during the year, the other being that of Mr E. Frost, who lost the use of one eye altogether. Mr Tee was operated upon by Dr. Wilkins, who is sanguine of preserving the sight of the injured optic.
