Thr debatu on the Financial Statement still continues, and there is little chance of it culling to a conclusion before Wednesday or Thur.'dny next. S.i f-ir, about seventeen members on both sides have spoken on the uudgnt proposals, but over a dozen speeches have Ktill to be delivered, including those of Sir John Hall, Mussrs Mitchelson, B'icklanrf, Richurdson, Fisher, and one or two nt'ie r -< fur tho Opposition, and Mbsrm Siuuidnrs, Seddon, McKenzie, Ballance, *nd several others for the Government side. The most daimifring attacks made on the Ministerial policy so far have been the ■speeches of Messrs Scobie Mackenzie, Dnthie, Geo. Hutchinson, and Mackenzie (Clutha). THE BRYCE EPISODE. Tho Public Petitions Committee were to have considered Mr Bryce's petition this morning, but as there was no quorum, it was postponed till Tuesday next, in order that Mr Bryce'a evidence, taken yesterday, may have full consideration. MINISTERIAL ECONOMY. During his speach last night on the question of economy, Mr Scobie Mackenzie compared the absolute total expenditure of one year with that of another. He pointed out that in 188'J Sir Harry Atkinson reduced the expenditure upon that of 1883 by the large sum of £105,450, and since then it had been marching on in the way of increase. In 1890-91 it had jumped ahead by over £100,000 and this year, the actual increase had exceeded £120,000.
