IF RORE.
Entertainment.—A most enjoyable entertainment for which To Rore has now become famous, was given in the school room, on Wednesday evening, the (ith, by our Church choir, and was in every way a great success, Mr James Melville presided, and the following excellent programme was exceedingly well rendered:—'"Open the Beautiful Gates," the choir ; sons, "Shells of the Ocean," Miss Maggie Choster; reading, Miss Nixon : song, Miss E. Davis ; song, "Jessie's Dream," Mr John McMicken ; trin, Misses J. Chester, Bolton, and Bruce. The chairman, as usual, gave the house a treat with his reading, Jennie Hayes Evening Party,'' causing roars nf laughter. A recitation by Master E. Davis was exceedingly well rendered for a yiunt* performer, and received a fair share of applause. Violin duet, Messrs Hodgson and James (was also encored and -esponded to). Song, " Lung Ago," Miss Lizzie Chester; song, comic, Mr Meadway, this was remarkably well rendered, and Mr Meadway was compelled to respond to a well deserved encore. The chuir then brought the first part of the programme to a close by singing " Steal Away." After an interval of ten minutes the second part was opened by the choir, the next item being a song, " Logie O' Buchan," Mr John McMicken ; song, comic, " Chillingowullabadorie," Mr Ike Hodgson, this was exceedingly well given, iinrl Mr Ike who appeared on the stage dressed as a nigger simply carried the homo with him, and was compelled to again respond to an encore ; song, "The Bridge," Miss Hodgson; reading, "The Drummer in Church,Mr T. McMicken ; violin duet, Messrs Hodgson and James; song, "Hivanee Kiver, Miss Maggie Chester; gone, "The Outlaw," Mr Meadway; the entertainment was brought to ;t close by MifS Marv Hodgson singing, "(ind Defend New Ze-dund.." being joined by the choir iu the chorus. The chairman in the course of a few remarks on the evening's entertainment, moved a heaity voto of hanka to the performers for their kind
sistance, which was seconded by Mr McKinnon amid applause ft"'o tho ambi'iico. Refreshments were bountifully supplied, ••in ) after all had (lend justice to the. good tilings, the company dispersed about II j).m., tiavinf: spent :v very enjoyable ingSickness.—La Grippe has again made its appearanco in this part of the Waikato, and many havo been laid up with it, the want of a medical man at Te Awamutii heing seriously felt just now. Since Dr. Kowloy left, some time time ago, no one has appeared to take his place. The disIrict is an extensive one, and a very ;o'nfortabio living might bo made by a eompetent man.
