Tin-; f-t'auier I'attimbuni. from ('iiniii, brings news of a turn hi 0 e;irLhqu.U;<\ which is supposed to have occurred at Sanginera, (sic) in the Celebes Sea. Hie island Dutch mail steamer left ■Sanginera for Timur, in (he Malay Archipelago, and the captain reported that shortly after leaving a terrible explosion occurred. The sky was darkened with ashes and smoke, and the vessel covered with ashes, and when the atmosphere cleared there was no trace of the island. The population was estimated at 12,000, Several sailing Teasels were also at Sanginera at the time, and it is almost certain that they were destroyed. The shock was felt at Timur. The Battenburn, while steaming through the Celebes Sea, passed for miles through Jebris and wreckage of all kinds.
