KIHIKIHI.

Roah Wouks.—The road works, recently let by contract in Kihikihi, have been satisfactorily carried out in Moullc and Grey streets by Mr James Kennedy, the contractor. These roads have been much improved, particularly Grey street, which now has a nice easy gradient. It has been out down to connect with the county road, which skirts the town at thi3 point and trends onward to Rangiaohia. Though Moullo street has not been finished, yet a ?ood deal has been done to it, and it will, doubtless, be completed in the nut distant future. Kmiui.Nfi.—'The kerbing of the footway from the Star Hotel to Mr .1, W. KllisV store is beitip pushed on by Messrs Blencoe and Co. A very good side walk hus been made from that hotel to Ballance street. Tho ratepayers of Kihikihi therefore can not complain of a want of progress on tho part of the Town Board. Kihikihi Town Boauij. —The final meeting of the present Town Board, whose term of office expires on September 17th, took place at the Board's office, Whitmore road, Kihikihi, on Friday, September sth. The following Commissioners were present: Messrs M. D. Dmneen (chairman), Tristram, and McNaught. After some preliminary business had been transacted the chairman said that as this wa<i the last meeting of the present Board he wished to thank the members of it for their uniform courtesy to himself while he had occupied the chair. He was happy to say that during the time they luid been in oHiee they had cordially worked together. Aud ho could say; and he was sure they would support him in the statement, that tliey had faithfully performed their duty. The affairs of the BwarJ and of the town UistiiLt were now in a more satisfactory state than

when tliey took office. The principal i thoroughfares and pathways of the town were now in a good state of repair. Much useful work had been done wisely and economically. This work spoke for itself. He regretted that there was not a full attendance on this occasion of Commissioners, and as he would not seek re-elec-tion he must thank them tor their kindness to himself and their courtesy to each other during their two years at that Board. Messrs Tristram and McNaught having suitably responded the meeting terminated. Elkction of the New Town Board.— The nomination of Commissioners for the Kihikihi Tosvn Board took place on the 11th instant at the Board's office. The following gentlemen were nominated : Messrs Farrell, Moncrieff, Maunder, F. Moody, R. Buckworth, James Kennedy, and W. Kelaher. The last two having retired and not having demanded a poll, the first five were elected and will doubtless make an excellent Board.
