LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(BY TKLLGUAI'H- —FUKSS ASSOCIATION.) MONDAY. The Council met 2.H0 p.m. The Nutive Affairs Committee reported on the Native Lund Laws Amendment Bill that it should not be allowed to proceed. Sir F. Whitaker moved that the Bill bo committed at 7.H0 p.m., which, after a debate, was cariied, on the understanding thut only the clause dealing with the Commissioners be pressed. Sir F. Whitaker moved that the Federation resolutions passed by the House should be agreed to, and that Sir VV. Fitzherbert represent the Council at the Conference, the Governor being given power to appoint a substitute should any of those elected be unable to go. After a short debate, in which Messrs Grace, Pharayzin and Richmond took part, the resolutions were adopted. Mr Baillie brought up a report from the Joint House Committee that the whole of the Parliamentary Buildings should be lighted with electric light, and that Bellamy's be incorporated as a club.
The former resolution was adopted, and the latter rejected. The Native School Sito Bill passed through committee, with a slight verbal amendment, and the Council adjourned till 7.00p.ni.
