HUNTLY GOAL MINES.

The Taupiri Extended Coalmining Company's lease of what is better understood as Ralph's coal mine terminated on Wednesday, March 2(')th, and has been taken over by the Messrs Ralph, who propose continuing active operations in the carrying on of the mine. The mine buildings and plant have been handed over in thorough good working order, and consumers in Waikato will continue to be supplied with their favourite household coal as heretofore, Mr R. R. Ralph undertaking the supervision of the Waikato trade, and his brother, Mr W. J. Ralph, proceeds to Auckland to extend the business in that direction, having opened an office with that object in the Victoria Arcade. For some time to come the coal, which will be put out of this mine, will be even superior to what has generally been supplied, being all dry pillar coal. It will be remembered that this has for many years been worked by the first and original Taupiri Coalmining Company, and it is this mine that has established the industry at Hnntly. This coal for a number of years has ranked first for household purposes, excelling in quality any of the other coals supplied from adjacent properties, and it was from the satisfactory returns from this mine that large and regular dividends have been annually paid to the fortunate shareholders.
