Tin', Waitoma Caves. —The caves at Waitmna have already began to attract visitors, quite a number of people from Auckland and elsewhere having visited them this last week: or so. All have expressed themselves delighted and astonished at their wonders. There is little doubt that befoie long there will be a constant stream of sightseers arriving at Otorohanfia as their beauty becomes known. At Mokau also caves of large extent are known to exist, but as yet have been unvisitod by Europeans. Natives have been known, when out on the fern hills, to have fallen through holes in the ground and entirely disappeared, and never seen again. Stones dropped down them are not heard to strike the bottom, so that no comparison of their depth can bo ascertained. The caves are said to be beneath a large extent of country. . Benefit. —Our local amateurs, assisted by a few friends, tender a complimentary benefit to Mrs Helps on Friday evening next in the .shape nf a concert and theatrical entertainment at the Public Hall. As Mrs Helps has invariably given her great musical talent freely to all entertainments without fee or reward, it is to bo hoped a bumper house will show the appreciation with which she is regarded throughout the district. Harvesting.—Business still continues dull, but as three threshing machines are busy in the district, when their work is finished things are expected to be a little livelier. I hear that the natives, in conjunction with Mr T. Goodfellow, will put in a large acreage of wheat on the latter gentleman's farm next season: also that the natives will return to Whatiwhatihoo and grow another crop at that place.
