Au.SK.vr.—lt was lesolved to grant leave of absence to Mr George Ilally, who was unavoidably prevented from attending the meeting. The Wathou Biuprk.—Mr 11 R. Brun-t-kill thought the Pinko County Council would be dealing harshly with the Taotaorn.i riding, if thoy made the erection of the contemplated bridge at Te Aroha a county matter. They had already been severely taxed for the purpose of assisting the goldfields, and had not received any benefit from them. He trusted the: Chairman—who is a member of the Council—would do his utmost to prevent their having to contribute towards the erection of the bridge.—The Chairman said it would be equally hard on some of the other ridings, if the bridge was put tip at the expense of the county. He assured the B urd that he should strenuously oppose such a course being taken, until every other means of defraying the expense had been exhausted.
MiNisratiAL Chance.—The Minister of Public Works directed that in future communications re public works should be addressed to the Crown Lands Department, as tho former office had been dispensed with.
