She was a. pretty lassie And hea jaunty lad ; They sat upon the sea-shore, And they watched tho breakers glad. He whispered to her softly, Aβ he looked down in her eyes. And her cheeks were turned to crimson Like the tint of imnset skies. And they kept it up all summer, And each gossip wagged her head, And bet that in the winter, These two would surely wed. But they didn't; for the lady Whom the lad wod months before Came down and yanked hur husband By the enr from off tho nhore, And he sat there nevermore.
